I decided to do things differently this time.  This time my “-ize” actually spotted a pattern that reminded me a little of a piece that I had completed previously. So I thought, with a few tweaks and additions, why not re-invent my drawing into something new and exciting?(for me anyway…I guess they are ALL new to you!) The powerful pull of the “backstory”….

I have one of those six-CD changers in the trunk of my car plus a single CD player on the inside…but as much as I love music, I rarely change what’s in there.  In fact, most of the time, I have NO IDEA what’s in there and everytime I go through them I say to myself  “I really need to update these!”  My sons think it’s quite comical.  We have been listening to Darius Rucker’s solo debut CD “Back to Then” for over 5 years now. But they don’t seem to mind – it is one of their personal favorites. Continue reading →

All over pattern…

Most of my drawing compositions involve a self-contained element that I then manipulate by reflecting and copying in interesting arrangements to create a pattern.  The spacing between the elements, or whitespace, becomes as much a part of the composition as the elements themselves.  Continue reading →

OK, a little late this time, but today is my catch up day. I think sometimes I suffer from having TOO many ideas and not knowing where to start…so once again, I will just START.

This elephant ear plant is in my front yard.  It has been there for quite some time. I have always seen pattern and graphics everywhere, but since I have started this project, it has taken on a whole new meaning for me. That same plant that I have been staring at for quite some time started to look like it was moving…calling me. Continue reading →
