As an interior designer, I have always felt that the accessories and the details of the room define the personality of the space. As an architect, I have always seen accessories as miniature buildings. My graphic style is seen throughout all of my work.
And the Kanga series is no exception. This is truly a graphic design motif translated to three dimensions.
I have always admired people who could function in a minimalist space.  I am organized, but I just have too much stuff. One day, years ago, I thought about the table scape on a dining room or kitchen table. There are two things that I have always needed on my table – candles and salt/pepper shakers. But it stands to reason, the less you put on your table surface, the less cluttered it appears, the more minimalist and cool. So I decided to combine the notion of a sculptural candleholder with salt & pepper shakers.
I call it Kanga because it reminds me of an abstracted kangaroo. The prototype is constructed very simply but I picture the final product in polished stainless or a powdercoat finish in various colors.
Just another product design in the early stages of development. Please stay tuned for future developments on this one!
